The immense beauty of the vast blue sky
And light reflecting off buildings had me
Gazing, never taking my eyes off the view from above
I want to be like the kite I see
Riding on the swift caress of the wind
I felt as if time froze, just me alone with the Infinite
I took everything in
Because I do not want to forget this moment

This city I was born into has seen my
Blood, sweat, and tears
Many a time I felt myself
A stranger in a familiar land
I wonder if it will call out to me when I am far away
A stranger in someone else’s land

I want to live my days simply, truly
I am
Insignificant
In a sea of faces amidst the crazy morning rush
This generation is built upon high ideals
People with dreams and aspirations
The face of this city sometimes feels like someone I recognize
But only from afar
Full makeup, covered in glitz and glamour
Yet undiscovered at its heart
